You said quite a lot in the article you summed up here. The main point is that if you want success first you have to figure out what success means to you. Then figure out your own way of going about achieving it. Following another isn’t what works but learning from another is.

Making your own way with what you learn will be the key… Of course there are so many different things to do with your site you just need to get in there, figure some stuff out and see what happens.
