Social Bookmarking Module for Joomla

Extension Name: Super Social Bookmarking Module
Joomla Compatibility: 1.5+
Joomla Extension Type: Module

The super social bookmarking module is an addon that I created for the Joomla content management system. It features a bright series of glossy web 2.0 buttons that users can click to add your articles and pages to twelve of the internet’s most popular social bookmarking/networking websites. Through the Joomla backend parameters you can select which images you want displayed and which ones you want hidden.

Included is a screen-shot of the module!

The icons look really large on my pages. Overly big. I like the module and still want to use it.
Is it just a case of editing the sizes of the images to make them smaller? Are images installed to the media folders? or in the module dir itself?

Web Site Design Kent » The images are stored in the module folder itself. You can reduce their size their or you can modify the css file of your website by changing the width or height attribute of the bookmarkimage class.

    Nicholas,
Thank you for your input. I will have a look at both options. Im locating the bookmarks in another module so probably the reduce image will work best.
You have a great blog here and obviously have your finger on the pulse of all things Inter-web!!

Web Site Design Kent » Thanks a bunch. I’ve been using Joomla for about a year and now I’m really getting into Wordpress. I get more joy out of helping others figure it out than I do figuring stuff out myself. I remember how hard it was when I was just starting out and I was trying to learn everything. I want to make that process as easy as possible for everyone else.

Hello Nicholas, very nice work, your module is really good, but let me ask you about one missing thing: How can I set my CSS atribute into this? Is it hard to add the extra field to mod my CSS like other joomla regular modules? Can you give some light here please?

Another tip for your next version, a extra field to type a intro text inside the module, somethig like “Add this page to your favorite Social Bookmarking site”!

    Thank you very much!

Hi Nicholas, great module except for the size of the icons. You’ve mentioned editing the css. I’m not very good with PHP or working on the CSS. Can you give me detailed instructions on how to modify the size of these icons without affecting other icons on my website?

    Thank you,

    I already did a 20×20 version.
Some icons was redraw to best fit. You can download it (just the images) here: http://www.f4com.com.br/icons20×20.rar

You will need to extract and rename this files before overwrite original ones using your FTP client.

    Hope it helps.

Hi Nicholas, I wasn’t able to download that file (says not available). But I see now what you were saying to do, that is, modify the images from the backend in the root/modules/mod_socialbookmarking/images/ folder. Once I saw that, I downloaded them, resized them in Fireworks, and reuploaded them. So they are perfect for what I need. Thanks for the help and great module!

    Thanks for the MOD.
I have an answer for anyone that wanted the module class section added so you can use the template CSS.

What i had to do is access the mod_socialbookamrking.xml file and add this line just before the

That will allow you to then add any module class suffix I.E -blank to your module position.

    Hope that makes sense.

Regarding not having icons for Twitter and MySpace. I googled and found icons that looked like they matched your set.

I am going to incorporate them into your mod but I thought you might want to add them for others.
