One Click Publishing with Publisha

Our host today is Suzanne Vara. If you're interested in getting in front of the readers of Site Sketch 101, check out our guest posting invitation here.

Publisha, the newest platform, allows users to format and publish your blog or online publication to the web, iPhone, iPad, Facebook and RSS all from a single dashboard.

The platform has two offerings for use: host on their site or remain where you are and use the publishing features. The latter will most likely be the most attractive to users as moving a blog or online publication to a platform drives traffic to that platform and not your own site. Nonetheless, there is the option to host at publisha.com. There are fees associated with hosting on their platform which seem to be a bit high: 20% cut of all ad, affiliate and subscription revenue and also a fee of $2 per every GB of bandwidth above 10GB.

The Publisha Facebook App

The Facebook app is exciting and inviting. A tab is created that you add to your Facebook Page that includes advertising, commenting, polling, sharing features and a search of the archives. As with your current Facebook page, users can like, rate and comment on your articles.

The articles can be organized into categories as they are on your blog and according to Publisha your visibility will improve on the search engines from the keywords contained in your content. You continue to manage and communicate on your Facebook page with just a more of a blog feeling as it relates to your articles.

Publisha Stats Tracking

There is a built-in analytics tool that tracks likes, dislikes and also for those that do have ads on their site, it will show how many readers have seen the ads. A nice feature to  have at your fingertips from one dashboard.

The one down fall that I see to Publisha is that they do ask for 20% of your advertising space for cross-promotion and relevant advertising. You can refuse a specific ad but not every. Eventually it appears they move to a monthly membership based model however for now, this is what will keep them up and running.

What do you think? Is this worth the 20% ad space?

It is interesting to see new players entering the “blogging service” world but paying a fee (an even more if there’s too much traffic) along with 20% advertising? Even blogger doesn’t do this.

I agree that there is a permanent need to provide out-of-the-box and easy to use platforms for novices, but this looks a bit too much for things that the same novices can easily find and implement with simple Google searches.

I tend to agree here. It is not that difficult to have posts multi-published easily. This is easy to use but there are other options that are free and I think that people will stick with what they have. The online magazine may be enticing or the platform itself for those do that not wish to self host.

The stats tracking is probably one of the few reasons that people will really want to delve into this.

It has all the things that people are looking for ease of use, simplicity to post and publish but the fees are a bit steep.

I am sure we will see some others that are similar.

It looks good. Seems like a great new service/tool for me. Thanks for letting us know about this new player on the block Suzanne. I can’t wait to see its full feature and capacity, I know, they have more to offer since the site/app/tool is still on its beta phase.

It’s cool, but I don’t like the “fees” feature. The Facebook, Ipod, and Ipad feature seems will be more attractive rather the WP do.

    Hi
    This is Anna from Publisha.
I wanted to draw your attention to revised pricing on our website. For example, the amount kept by publishers for ads sold by them is 90% (not 80%) and bandwidth allowance ranges up to 100Gb (not 30Gb).
Full details can be found on the “add-ons” page.
    All the best
