Interview With A Blogging Mastermind #2
News and Updates at Site Sketch 101In this episode, I’ve focused on your personal questions. I talk about my role as a soldier and how being in the military has effected my view of web design. You’ll also meet my wife and daughter in this episode.
I’ve also spent some time trying to make massive improvements on the lighting situation on the actual video portion. Also, I’ve launched this episode in full high definition.
Your feedback is always appreciated so don’t hesitate to let me know what you think.

This is a great video Nick. Answering questions with a podcast.
Well, I learned that you are a religious person that loves christian music.
Your daughter is so cute. I have a daughter too. And she is turning 2 years old this December!
I think Nick, you are a happy married man. With a great family and great balance in life prior to your work, family and hobby (Blogging is your hobby right?)
Oh, is it just me or is it the sounds of your podcast seems too low?
ZXT said:
The sound seems pretty normal to me using a headset or a PC speaker but if you are watching this on a laptop then unfortunately most laptops has a low volume because of their tiny speakers.
Ron Boracay said:
Ow, ok. So its just me and no, I am not using laptop. I am using PC. Hmmm. I will try to change my speaker or my soundcard.
Andrew said:
Nice work again Nick. I have one suggestion though. Shut tweetdeck, or at least shut off notification sounds or any other app that might play a sound while you’re recording.
Huge improvement on the lighting. I’m not sure what you changed after the first scene, but the light went a little harsh and made your face glow a little too much.
Just review the transition between the first and second scenes and you’ll see what I’m talking about.
I’m certain that by video 3 Scorsese will have something to be worried about. You’re video’s are advancing in quality at a rapid rate.

I heard tweetdeck notification, hehe
I really enjoyed this interview, especially part with your family and answer to question I asked.
And here comes some feedback. Definitely some good proggress in video quality, however, you should be a little bit more relexed and the montage got some small mistakes (too early cutoffs).
Arisu said:
Hey Nick, great video, you´re definitely improving a lot with each new video and it was great to see you with your family -your daughter is a really cute baby! –
From now on, all I can say is keep practicing, till you feel comfortable in front of the camera and get rid of the little distractions (tweetdeck).

Nice to get to know the actual person behind this site a little bit better!
Keep up the great work!
Nicholas Z. Cardot said:
Judith –> Thanks Judith. I’ll put together some videos on specific topics in the future so we can keep the site moving forward.
Bruce Teague said:
Much better all away around. The lighting was better, the image quality was better, and you appeared much more comfortable on camera. Glad to learn the deets about the fam.
Did you still use a webcam? or did you use a camcorder?
You still didn’t answer how you get your wife to let you spend so much time on the blog.
Nicholas Z. Cardot said:
Bruce Teague –> I used a webcam but I bought the best webcam that they have at Best Buy. She let’s me because it’s right in the living room and we talk and watch tv together while I’m on the computer.
Arisu said:
Talking about Diane: Thanks a lot for letting Nick spend that much time working in the blog, he really is helping a lot of people out ^^
ZXT said:
Yeah I can’t even imagine how Diane deal with this. Nick is more than 12 hours out of the house then for sure Diane is longing for some quality time from Nick especially now that they have a daughter to take care of.
I think being in the military, time management is the first thing you learned Nick. But again Kudos to Dianne for letting you spend hours blogging everyday.
ZXT said:
Okay…first you look like 5 years younger in this video than last week. I’m pretty sure its about the lighting.
Secondly, this clip is shorter and I think you answered fewer questions.
Last, great improvement on almost everything Nick and very adorable baby you got there.
Nicholas Z. Cardot said:
ZXT –> Thanks. I’ve been traveling for work and I got home late Sunday afternoon and had to leave at 6 am on Monday morning so I really didn’t have the time to make it as long as the last one. I’m 24 but everyone tells me that I look pretty young. I’m alright with that.
Arisu said:
Woah! 24 years old and you´re already happily married and on the road to be a blogger super star?
-Nick, you´re my idol-
Nicholas Z. Cardot said:
Arisu –> I’ve been married for over 4 years, my friend. I love every minute of it. I live a very blessed life. I’m very thankful for everything I have and everyone I know (including you). You know that every time I chat with you on here I get more excited about seeing your upcoming blog.
Arisu said:
Nick>>
Congratulations for you and Diane, I hope God keeps blessing you for years and years to come – and your little girl too – ^^
And I´m surprised cause it´s not usual meeting someone so young and with so much expertise and clear goals. I´m 23 and I feel like I still have too many things to learn and the future seems so weird and unclear… that´s why you are my idol.
Nicholas Z. Cardot said:
Arisu –> Thanks Arisu. You’re right. I don’t see a lot of people who are my age that think about the things that I think about. I’m constantly trying to think about where I want to be several years from now. Most people aren’t thinking about that.
Arisu said:
Nick>>
You could even say that many people way older than us never has had clear goals and just goes with the flow.
I still have a lot of things to learn and decide, but I don´t want to feel like I wasted my time living a life I didn´t choose.
Nicholas Z. Cardot said:
Arisu –> Wow. I couldn’t have summed it up any better than you just did: I don’t want to feel like I wasted my time living a life I didn’t choose. That’s powerful, Arisu. Very well put.
Ron Boracay said:
Finally, Nick revealed his age. I can’t imagine on that very young age, seems like you are just an inch away to your target goal.
Since you revealed your age, I will also reveal mine, Im 25. Am I the oldest here?
Reza Winandar said:
Well, it seems that everyone reveal their age, okay, I’m 15. Am I the youngest here?
ZXT said:
Pretty much I guess unless there’s another Carlo Ocab here.
15 is a young age really, I think I’m still playing my action figures at that age
j/k
But if there’s blog already when I was 15 then I might also blogging at that young age.
Sat Chen said:
Yea, you are. Your blog doesn’t look like something a 15 year old would be able to do. really impressive. Since everyone is revealing their age, I guess I will to. i am 16
ZXT said:
Yeah you look like 22 years old except on your avatar.
BTW, you are married for 4 years but you waited to have a baby? Wow thats nice, waited till you ready right?
Even tho the video was shorter, it was a great improvement from the last one.
Nicholas Z. Cardot said:
ZXT –> Yeah. We waited about 3 1/2 years. I just discovered how to post pictured on my twitter stream and I’ve been posting some pictures of her there. So if your not following me on twitter then you should be. Thanks for letting me know that it was much better this time.
ZXT said:
I apologize Nick, I’m following some commenters here but I forgot to follow you. Okay I’m officially a follower now.
Nicholas Z. Cardot said:
ZXT –> Ha ha. No need to apologize. Be sure to give me a shout out on there once in a while and we’ll chat a little bit on there as well as on here!
Blaine Bullman said:
Great video Nicholas. It was nice to get to know you a little better and I also thought your intro was excellent, very well done.
Nicholas Z. Cardot said:
Blaine Bullman –> Thanks so much Blaine. I appreciate the feedback and I’m glad that you enjoyed it.
Casey Brazeal (North and Clark) said:
Nicholas this was a well put together video. Much more relaxed delivery and you seemed to have concise answers. I look forward to your next video, and don’t be afraid to crack a smile.
Nicholas Z. Cardot said:
Casey Brazeal (North and Clark) –> Thanks! I’m smiling reading your comment. I’ll be sure to smile in the next one. LOL.
Sat Chen said:
Looks great this time. You must be getting use to being in film
Ryan said:
