• I’m about to jump off a building.
It’s a perfect, early morning with the world asleep. Silence is the all-intruding mistress and you seem to relish the fact that you are surrounded by her. You are one step away from plunging into nothingness and then hitting the hard concrete. Wham! You will breathe your last on planet Earth; escape from all the miseries that life could have thrown you. Stop!
From where I’m sitting, I could see you writing a book on your life. It might be the most miserable, sad, painful, torturous homemaker’s story, but life has thrown you the curve ball; you could write a book! So don’t jump off just yet. Start writing.
• I’m left speechless at the sheer beauty of Nature.
There have been a lucky few who have had the immense pleasure of viewing the most glorious of places. Green paddy fields stretching out for miles under the azure sky, only to end at the foothills of majestic hills; it’s relish for your hungry eyes. That is a painting life has presented to you as a gift. If this won’t inspire you, then what will? Accept life’s gift and start writing.
• I’m on a long journey by train or bus.
There you are sitting in a bus, taking a ride through a beautiful, serene valley with a river flowing steadily by the side. And all you are doing is staring at the pristine mountains and greens. Why not pen down a few thoughts? Nature can be your muse and you can be the creator of a new poem. Take in the beauty and start writing.
• I’m at a not-so-crowded beach all by myself.
A sunny, summer day and the waves are lashing the sand-spread shores of the beach. All by yourself, you have tuned in to the sea’s radio station and all you sense around you are the waves crashing, the sea-gulls calling, and the pebbles glistening. It’s quiet all around you and it’s just you and Nature at conversation. Make the most of tranquil settings and start writing.
• I think a ‘quick smoke’ is going to rid me of my problems.
My girlfriend just broke up with me. I failed all my tests in class. Reprimanded by my parents, I’m have now eclipsed myself in the shadows of my own misery. My best bet out of my anguished existence is a quick smoke. But as I take out the lighter, I take a quick look at myself in a small, unobtrusive puddle of water that has formed, thanks to the rain. And then I stop. I decide to start writing, putting down my anguish onto paper.
• I’m lucky enough to have cookies and hot chocolate.
It’s a glorious, winter day and the early morning shivers are making you lazy. You want to stay up in bed and look out at the snowflakes now gathering on the window sill. Holiday time and you know it’s your lucky day for cookies and a cup of hot chocolate. As you sip the steaming, chocolaty liquid, you can feel the thoughts flowing liberally in your mind;hot chocolate – the right energizer to start writing.
• I simply realize my love for writing.
When I look at the ideal scenic picture, I want to start writing. When I feel hurt by harsh words and unexpected betrayals, I want to write. When I feel happy at the fact that I’m alive, I want to write. When I travel to faraway destinations, I want to describe the journey, and so I want to write. I want to write because I love to write. And when I realize this love, I should start writing.
