I've been running a web design blog targeting a Mauritian audience for 1 and a half year now and though I've had some peaks in traffic it just doesn't seem to take off. One of my major problems comes from the target itself. Mauritian web designers are scarce and very few of them are not interested in standards and all the new web technologies. Many a company here are still selling websites with nested tables and 1990's style web design. So branding is really difficult. Yes, you can still do great SEO and spit out excellent content, but until you buy a domain, hosting and design a decent blog, I think branding is something that is out of your reach.
