Chandan - you are so right. Just allowing "dofollow" links makes all the difference. It's getting harder to find sites willing to do this.

There is no doubt you do a great job with your blog and this alone is enough to make people want to comment. Of course in my opinion the subject matter is also interesting:)

I like the idea of ending a blog post with a group discussion section. I usually end with a question or two, but it seems like a good idea to separate it from the rest and make it a little more obvious. Could encourage a few more people to jump in. :)

Nice tips! It's no wonder you have so many comments!

Oh the day that I got my first comment, and then the next few comments after that, I have to say when you get that email through asking you to moderate a comment, the smile on your face is amazing.

The problem is that you do need to keep that up. Currently I normally ask people to join in, but only add a line at the end of the article. A group discussion paragraph seems like it would work better.

I find that commenting on others blogs is one of the best ways, it shows that you are interested and would like people to join in with conversation more.

I'm going to have to go through your steps and add a few more, like the top commenters in the sidebar etc.

Regards,
Simon Duck

The number of comments reflects your post. Its very interesting to interact, learn and share. I like commenting and interacting because it helps me become more well informed and value the opinions of others as well.

Great list of ideas. I especially agree with the n°6, Akismet does such a great job that no one should be worried about spam.

I wonder about the dofollow links in terms of SEO though. I have to say I don't know much about it but there must be a reason why no one does it. Wouldn't it bring down the PR of the posts for instance?

To be honest I don't care so much about SEO but I wonder why no one has dofollow links then. Or maybe is it just by default on Wordpress?

I heard about this blog entry through a fellow Tweeter; excellent advice. As a blogging newbie--and with a particular niche--I can see how implementing several of these ideas will start to generate commentary. Also, I very much appreciate your knowledge-sharing attitude!
