Kevin Rose is the founder of Digg, the popular social bookmarking site.  He’s developed Digg into an incredibly popular online service and he’s created a tremendous fortune by doing it.  When it comes to site development, usability, and marketing, this man knows what he is talking about because he has done it.

Although this video is focused on developers building online applications and attracting millions of users, the advice is so incredibly practical to bloggers that I feel compelled to share it on here.  Why not strive to take your blog from 1 reader to 1,000,000 readers?  I am.

If you’re reading this by RSS, you’ll have to stop by the site to check out this awesome video with Kevin Rose.  I promise that you won’t regret it.

Thanks for sharing that video. Very interesting, indeed. The use of ratings systems, having different levels of users and leaderboards (like the one 2 inches from my cursor) to create involvement are noteworthy and definitely applicable to blogging.

But, first things first. Right now I’m going to head over to elegantthemes.com and see how to get the thumbnail images to show up on my blog. Ya gotta have priorities. Thanks again for that video.

Randall G. Leighton –> If you need help with that, let me know. I’ve helped a couple of friends of mine track down the issues and get the thumbnails working on their templates and I would be glad to help you do the same.

Really Kevin’s presentation was an overview of Game Theory! I remember my “Technology and Play” class at the University of Illinois-UC and the part I loved most was “EGO”. If the user of your product, site, or “game”, doesn’t get some sort of value or feeling of increased self-worth they won’t use it!
